Alderville First Nations Chief, historian & lifelong musician, Dave Mowat  cut his teeth in Winnipeg during the eighties, experiencing the amazing scene and sharing the stage with some of the greats including Big Dave McLean.Dave saw, and was inspired by, other greats like John Lee Hooker, Jimmy Rogers, Johnny Winter, John Hammond Jr, Sam Lay, Otis Rush, and James Cotton.

Mowat moved back to Ontario in 1995 and found a community of like-minded musicians in the Northumberland, Peterborough, and Toronto music scenes, playing with Jimmy Bowskill, amongst many others. Through Bowskill he was connected to Toronto musicians Clayton Yates and Terry Wilkins, both veterans sidemen who make up the other two parts of his trio on resonator guitar and gut-string bass.

Dave has opened for RL Burnside and played harmonica for Hubert Sumlin (Best known as guitarist for Howlin’ Wolf and Muddy Waters).

Dave’s style is that of the Delta, and Chicago blues sounds, in the old-fashioned way in an attempt to honor those legendary blues musicians that came before him.
